Papa Roach @ Sonisphere Festival, UK 2010

To be honest, I didnt know what to expect live from Papa Roach.  I anticipated a band that were trying to still be cool with baggy pants and spiky hair and that may have struggled to keep with the pace. Maybe even an old band just working the circuits to keep above water…  I WAS WRONG…

They were awesome from the outset, Jacoby was fired up and raring to go and instantly he had the crowd in the palm of his hand.  The band were tight and solid with a fantastic sound.  They were outstanding, simple as that.

Although the Papa Roach riffage was never gonna match someone like Slayer, its not a case of what you play but how you play it and Jerry Horton stuck by that.  He was peerless and nailed every single track effortlessly.

As a front man, I always thought that Jacoby struggled in the past vocally, but again he has clearly improved with age and even when he jumped down to the adoring crowd, he never missed a note.  He was clearly enjoying it as much as his fans.

I really felt that it was a shame that their set come to an end, as it seemed to fly by. Im sure Im not alone in saying that they definately turned heads for the right reasons and Im almost certain that they went home with more fans that what they arrived with!  I am really looking forward to catching up with them when they tour the uk in the near future. It is clear to see that they are a band with nothing to prove to themselves or the fans they are doing this for fun. Plain and simple, they kicked ass and will continue to do so.
