EVILE/SAVAGE MESSIAH/APOLLYON

It’s one of those nights again where it’s a sure-fire bet to get blown away by bands like Evile, who have come through the ranks in recent years and have established themselves to be one of the best metal bands the UK has to offer.

Local Thrashers APOLLYON prove they are more than up to the challenge by cranking the volume up to 11 and delivering 30 minutes of straight up Death/Thrash metal.
Their 5-song set consisted of songs which have been a staple at many of their gigs and have also thrown in a brutal sounding new song ‘Scars’ which has gone down extremely well. The musicianship in the band has been as consistent as ever, vocalist/bassist Gareth Owen is proving himself to be one of the best frontmen in the area, Glen Brazier’s guitar work has never sounded better and James Roberts’ drum work is just impeccable. One of the best performances ever by the band who have deservedly raked in a few new fans tonight.

Next up are London thrash metal act SAVAGE MESSIAH who take up the unfortunate task of keeping up the momentum that has been set by the Apollyon lads. In comparison, their music has got more of an old school thrash feel to it, closer to the sound of tonight’s headliners and 1980′s era Metallica. Musically theyre very tight and they have gone down a storm amongst the half-empty crowd and have proven themselves to be more than capable of warming up the crowd ready for the headliners.

EVILE are no strangers to Central Station, last time when they played they tore the place a new asshole.  The crowd that anticipated a similar performance tonite, were not to be let down and were expecting to be deafened by a band who have been one of the most consistent on record and on stage in the UK.  The 3 albums the band have released to date have been so well received that they could play anything they want from them and still go down a storm and their loyal fans would still be singing along to them.  There are many highlights to be taken out of this performance, live favourites ‘Thrasher’ and ‘Infected Nations’ receive the most mosh pits of the night, and the new songs ‘Eternal Empire’ and ‘Cult’ goes down a treat, with the latter song particularly going down well with the fans who sing along to pretty much every word.  They end proceedings with ‘Enter The Grave’ which turns out to be the perfect finale. Brilliant songs, brilliant musicianship
and a brilliant set.

On the whole it was a great night all round, 3 brilliant bands who have played here have made this a night to remember, 2 of which you should definately keep an eye out in the future and 1 of which that will keep on rising and will still take on anything and destroy it in its path.
