Welcome to our Skindred feature. Yes, they have a special section dedicated to their set at Sonisphere UK? Why you may ask? Because they were everything that all the other bands couldnt be…..
So here goes!
From the minute Benji strutted on the stage with his Union Jack flag and planted it on the stage like he had just landed at Sonisphere, you knew it was gonna be special. He stood with the flag raised and to the people in attendance, it was an image that they will relate to the Sonisphere UK 2010 forever. Skindred had landed and they were ready to ‘Cause ah Riot’.
As soon as they started the set, the crowd were bouncing. They were captivated by the twisted humour and banter from the ever charismatic Benji, which to be honest, he was better than the comedians that were performing. Musically, the band were devastatingly great. The ploughed through the set with no remorse and they certainly left their mark on the fans, new and old.

One great feature of the band is how professional and tight they are whilst having fun. There was even time for the drummer, Arya, to trade places with his drum tech (who was dressed in an all in one dodgy looking catsuit) halfway through the set.
I was lucky enough to not only photograph the band from the press pit, but was also granted access to take pictures from ON the main stage. I can honestly say that you could not see the back of the crowd, there were people, flags and inflatable dolls as far as the eye can see. It was a unique opportunity to see how the crowd were reacting and they were bouncing!
Skindred are definately reaping the rewards of all their hard work..Their work ethic is phenomenal and always seem to be on tour. They are finally getting the true recognition they deserve and long may it continue.
