Your Demise - Miles Away
Taken from their highly anticipated 2nd album ‘The Kids We Used To Be’ out 20th September on Visible Noise
I was given a sneak preview of new song ‘Miles Away’ from UKHC mob Your Demise. To be honest,I have not come across this band before, but consider me a definate fan! I had to do a bit of homework – The song is as viscious as ever, the first new material with new vocalist Ed McRae (Formerly of Centurion), displays their old skool metallic hardcore roots, no gimmicks or over use of the ‘breakdown’ just high energy in-your-face pissed off hardcore, the way it should be done. It sounds as if this song was written to tear up the pit in the live setting, you can imagine the pit igniting with the 2-step groove laden throughout this song, a complete windmillers pit anthem, especially the double bass punishment for the last 20 second finale. Production is top-notch, clear, sweet bass tones and showcasing a slick snappy snare rolls, vocals raspy yells and full of passion and sincerity.
There is a distinct metallic SXE posi-hardcore feel with melodic guitar runs (ala Shai Hulud) and gang vocal trade-offs (I can see the pile-ons to grab the mic already!) When Ed screams ‘alone alone alone so alone’ you know he means it as if his life depends on it. This is truly music to start a riot to, if you’re sick of the tired beatdown laden deathcore movement, then these guys are dragging old skool hardcore from the underground and are leading the pack. You NEED THIS.. These guys deserve huge success this year, with one of the most (if not the most) eagerly anticipated UKHC releases of 2010…. Honest. Viscious. In your face. This will wake you up more than 100 shots of espresso. You’d be a fool to not check these out…
