THE MORE I SEE – TREAD THE DARKER PATH
Transcend records 2010
The More I See have one of the best work ethics that I have come across. They know what they want and they will graft and push until it comes their way. Gizz Butt has worked and shaped this modern Thrash Metal band until he has got the perfect final product. The end product? Without doubt the best album of 2010 so far.
Throughout this album, the influences are clear. Whether it is the crunching James Hetfield-esque palm muting, or the Bruce Dickinson power falsetto vocals there is no denying which bands inspire these guys. But at the same time, let me make it clear, The More I See are not in any way, a replica of the afore mentioned bands, but a hybrid culmination of the biggest and best bands on the planet, and you know what? They do it brilliantly.
Gizz Butt is known for his previous work as ex-guitarist for prodigy, but dont let that fool you. He is clearly an accomplished shredder of the highest quality. His intricate sweep arpeggios will make grown men weep and will inspire youngsters for years to come.
There are many standout tracks on the album, with the writing being second to none. One of the stand out moments on the album for me is the technical drumming, especially on ‘Decadance Within’. Its hard to believe that Harri Wright is still only 17 years old, yet is far beyond his years in ability as a drummer.
The other standout track, is the popular ‘Unholy Feast’. For those of you not familiar with TMIS need to know that this song was featured on a previous album, but since then, things have changed. The line up undertook a major overhaul and the song was featured on the new album featuring Peter Ellis as frontman. This was a defining moment and the track has definately changed for the better. The vocals are much more powerful and distinctive…This is definately a live song for crowd participation.
To sum up, Tread the Darker Path is phenomenal in everyway…It is a gargantuan of a record with brutal production and immense appeal.
You need this in your life!
Take a listen…
