It is unfortunate these days that many bands dont get the attention they deserve, mainly those who write exceptionally good songs that are catchy and danceable.  Birmingham alt-rockers No Americana look set to change all that with their debut E.P.

Starting with opener ‘Never Say Never’ its clear that the band want to make a statement to all the nay-sayers out there as they combine epic sounding guitars with hard-hitting drums to create a song so catchy that you’ll find it very hard not to sing/dance along. ‘Method to the Madness’ continues that formula, its more guitar driven than its predecessor but its still the type of song that’ll stick around in your head for a while. Moving on to ‘Wax Poetic’ which is one of the highlights of the cd, the song sounds as if You Me At Six are battling it out with any recent Feeder albums which is by no means a bad thing. ‘The Science of Seduction’ is another monster of a track more reminiscent of Snow Patrol, albeit with more distorted guitars.

Things slow down a touch when ‘Sing For A Winner’ makes its way into your head, a definite highlight of the E.P. Vocalist David Foster sounds brilliant throughout this record but it is on this track where he sounds the best and it gets even better when the backing vocalists come in towards the end. On to the final track ‘Bringin’ Me Down’ which ends the record how it’s started, catchy and fast paced and, most of all, another belter of a track. All in all, this E.P. is suberb, 6 great songs clocking in at over 20 minutes, if you like your music thats guitar driven, epic, catchy and has songs to sing your heart out to, then this cd is for you.

Expect big things for this band in the near future especially as ‘No Americana’ will be appearing at Sonisphere in Knebworth, Hertfordshire in July.

A band definately worth checking out so make sure you don’t miss them!
