Mancunian five-piece Dear Superstar have been achieving so much in their few years of existence, playing alongside many accomplished bands, coveted support slots and a critically acclaimed album under their belts, their second album ‘Damned Religion’ could see the band destined for bigger things.
The band mean business as soon as the first riff of the title-track comes in, already you can hear influences such as Motley Crue and Papa Roach, with Micky Satiar’s vocals providing the icing on the cake with his broad vocal range. Tracks like ‘Change Yesterday’, ‘Our City Sleeps’ and ‘Anthem To My Life’ take a more stadium-rock route to great effect, ‘Sirens’ is quite possibly the best track with its larger-than-life chorus and a blistering guitar solo.
The final two tracks take a heavier turn as ‘Glitter Just Like Gold’ ups the tempo and ‘Crystallized’ highlights the band’s musicianship by finishing the album in extraordinary style with its catchy hooks and pulsating riffs.
It’s second time lucky for this band as yet again they have created another album that should see them playing much bigger venues, never mind support slots. It’s Dear Superstars’ turn to be headlining tours and with an album like this, it could be imminent. Stunning!
