Apollyon – Life’s Conclusion EP Review

The first time I heard Apollyon was live at The Metal 2 the Masses Final in Wrexham and it was very to say that these guys have massive potential to kick some ass in the Metal scene. Without any gimmick to make them standout, they are clearly three metal fans who are playing what they feel passion for and let the music do all the talking.
So I was very interested in giving a listen to the EP Life’s Conclusion and after a giving it a few listens to digest, this is pretty intense. With opening track Intoxicating Rainfall a fantastic idea of introducing what the band do – a fast thrash metal inspired riff that bursts into high gear with sharp drumming to compliment . Owen’s growling vocals adds to the intensity and aggression that remind me Jeff Walker of Carcass. Unpredictably, the track is broken down with a clean melodic guitar riff that brings out another side to band which builds up in tempo.
The EP just opens up into another exciting frenzy with I Stand Alone a track that explodes into high pumped adrenaline that would make any At The Gates fan satisfied there is life beyond the Swedish Death Metal legends. A very tight song that would can easily get a crowd moving. What stood out to me with this three piece band is their influences maybe old school but it’s not like they’ve stuck within the timeframe of their heroes releases but remind us all of the impact they had on our lives and produce it into their own piece Pissed On Power is a very good example of this – modern, brutal and very tight. Self titled Life’s Conclusion brings the EP to a positive close that brings out each band members quality and finishes with a clean riff that calms the mood down from a ferocious, energetic mini-album.
It is clear that Life’s Conclusion is only a taster of what is to come for the future of Apollyon. They are very capable of pushing the boundaries and tearing the place down with their raw powered sound. It is a fantastic introduction of the band that will catch the ear of fans who like Carcass, At The Gates and Megadeth and push them to the exposure they deserve. This is a band that can rise from the underground and deliver what they do best.
